ATF Plans eForms Blackout as NFA $0 Tax Looms for Suppressors, SBRs
From our partners at NSSF: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) announced it will go into a week-long blackout period of processing all eForms from December 26, 2025, through January 1, 2026, in order to prepare for the expected surge in applications ahead of the reduced $0 tax on NFA items. The freeze is described as a needed “administrative pause,” according to Guns.com. “This is necessary to implement statutory changes contained within the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which reduced the making and transfer tax for certain firearms to $0,” states the ATF’s eForms login page. “Deletion of all DRAFT applications is necessary because of the field and formatting changes required on the new forms, available January 1. This will also allow ATF to add additional functionality to the Form 4, allowing both qualified licensees as well as other transferors to submit Form 4 applications through the eForms system.” Read more important details here at Guns.com.
